Covid-19 continues to vex area school districts, which are striving to maintain in-person instruction.
Indiana Area reported a positive case in an employee at the Central Administration offices yesterday, with another employee needing to quarantine. District-wide, there are five cases at the Senior High, four at the Junior High/Eisenhower Elementary, and one at Ben Franklin Elementary. Approximately 133 students and staff members are in quarantine and all of the district’s buildings remain open.
River Valley reported two positive cases yesterday, in a student at the middle school and another at the high school. Both were last in school last Friday.
Purchase Line did not report any new cases, but superintendent Shawn Ford writes in a public letter that the district will continue to follow the state’s mask mandate, and is giving parents a little extra time to get a medical exemption form from a licensed health care provider. Ford says, however, that they will not accept a form from “Dr. Yeager or Heritage Family Health” because the form they use can be downloaded from the internet and does not state that the student has been seen by the doctor or is under the facility’s care.
