State Police have released the statistics for the Labor Day driving period and it was a busy one for troopers in Troop A, which covers most of Indiana County.
Over the four-day driving period, troopers say they investigated 41 crashes in the Troop A area, with two people killed in two fatal crashes and 16 other people were injured. Four of the investigated crashes and one of the two deaths was alcohol-related.
Troopers also arrested 47 people in the Troop A area for DUI, handed out 899 speeding tickets, issued 80 seatbelt citations and 177 seatbelt warnings, along with four citations for improper use of a child safety seat.
Across the state, State Police investigated 674 crashes, with six people dying in six of those crashes. 209 people were injured in those crashes. 57 of the crashes reported were alcohol-related, and one death was due to an alcohol related crash.
