At last night’s agenda prep session, Indiana Borough Council heard from Citizens’ Ambulance as they continue to try and get donations from municipalities.
The donations would be matched by White Township up to $50,000. So far, Center Township has contributed $10,000, but Citizens’ wanted to see a $40,000 donation from Indiana Borough. B.J. Pino of Citizens said that a donation of that size would act like an endorsement from the borough.
Borough Council President Peter Broad said that the request is coming as the borough is going into budget season, and funding is tight.
His suggestion is that the borough fund it through a portion of the property taxes they receive, much like they do with the fire department.
In other business, the board appointed Mary Lou Zanich as the temporary councilperson that represents the 4th Ward. She takes over for Sara Stewart, who resigned her post after moving out of the borough.
