Charges of drug delivery resulting in death have been filed against an Ernest man for the death of an Indiana County man in 2019.
District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that 33-year-old Andrew Rankin will be the first man to have that charge filed against him in Indiana County. The criminal complaint alleges the victim who was not identified by name, bought three stamp bags of drugs from Rankin and delivered the drugs. Shortly after that conversation, the victim died due to a drug overdose.
Manzi said that this type of investigation takes a lot of work and time to complete.
He added that this is the first time that this charge has been filed in Indiana County. Since this case in 2019, Manzi said that there have been about 80 more people who have overdosed and died.
No word yet on when the trial will be held.
