UPDATE: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for Indiana County effective until 1:15 this afternoon.
WHAT WE PREVIOUSLY REPORTED
Indiana County 911 reports that few calls have come in so far connected with the remnants of Hurricane Ida.
So far, four reports have come in. One of them was a call for Creekside firefighters to help with a tree down on Blue Spruce Road in Rayne Township at 12:39 PM. After that, there have been calls for utility lines down on Chambersville Road in Washington Township at 3:30 PM, Power Plant Road in East Wheatfield Township at 6:55 PM, and Rexis Road in Buffington Township at 10:47 PM. Creekside, Armagh, and Vintondale fire departments responded respectively.
There are just a few outages in Indiana County this morning being reported by Penelec, mainly in the Southwest corner of the county. Ten outages are being reported in Conemaugh Township, while three are in Saltsburg Borough. Power is expected to be restored by 7:30 this morning.
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service’s Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 2:00 tomorrow morning, and a flash flood warning is in effect until 12:15 PM today for west-central Indiana County. Rainfall totals between 1-5 inches across the southwest Pennsylvania region are expected today, and that could cause some flash flooding. Flooding may also be seen along small streams and creeks. Governor Tom Wolf has signed a Weather Emergency Declaration in anticipation of the widespread flooding from Ida.
If you have to drive today, officials ask that you make sure your wipers and lights are in good working order, and if you encounter a flooded roadway, “turn around, don’t drown”.
