A Westmoreland County man was sentenced to serve up to six years in prison for a series of thefts in Indiana, Westmoreland and Fayette Counties over a two-month period.
Reports say that 36-year-old Michael A. Krautz IV was sentenced yesterday by Westmoreland County Judge Tim Krieger. He was found guilty of a crime spree where he stole things from cars that were parked at automotive repair shops in Westmoreland and Indiana counties, a convenience store in Fayette County, and an auto parts store and a home in Westmoreland County. Court records showed that Krautz admitted to the thefts, but told police he couldn’t remember the scope of the thefts because of his use of methamphetamine.
On top of the jail time, Krautz was also ordered to serve 18 months of probation and to pay over $27,000 in restitution to his victims.
