Blairsville Borough Police have arrested a man on charges of retail theft, scattering rubbish, underage drinking and other crimes for an incident early in the morning on August 27th.
Police say 18-year-old Jonathan Kirkland went into the Sheetz in Blairsville Borough at 3:07 AM in a visibly intoxicated state. He grabbed a small bottle of an alcoholic beverage costing $1.89, but the store employee said not to bother, as it was after two AM and alcohol sales were shut off. Kirkland then opened the bottle and drank the beverage while in the store. After leaving the store, he was seen on video headed towards the Citizens’ ambulance station, throwing the empty bottle in the Sheetz lot. He then got into a car parked in Citizens’ lot, but as he was in the car, he dropped a bottle cap and his cell phone. An employee said that nothing was taken from the car.
Charges were filed with District Judge Robert Bell.
