Coach Mike Tomlin indicated on Wednesday that he will play his starters on the offensive line tonight when the Steelers take on Carolina in their final preseason game. That means rookie Kendrick Greene at center flanked by guards Trai turner and Kevin Dotson, and tackles Chuks Okorafor and Zach Banner. They played together briefly for the first time last week.
The Steelers traveled to Charlotte yesterday. Kickoff is scheduled against the Panthers at 7:30 tonight.
Longtime NFL lineman Stefen Wisniewski announced his retirement yesterday. He played for five teams over 10 seasons after being drafted in the second round by the Raiders in 2011. He won a Super Bowl with the Eagles and another with the Chiefs two years ago. Last year, he started the season with the Steelers but was injured. He returned to the Chiefs after recovering and played in Kansas City’s loss to Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl in February. He also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Wisniewski was an All-American at Penn State after growing up in Pittsburgh.
