Quick action by firefighters last night saved a home in Loyalhanna Township, in the Moween neighborhood in Westmoreland County.
Saltsburg and Tunnelton firefighters were joined by units from Westmoreland County after the alarm was raised shortly before 10 PM. Saltsburg Fire Chief John Dice said crews were able to prevent the bedroom fire from spreading into the crawl space of the modular home, knocking down the flames and limiting the damage to heat and smoke damage.
No one was injured. The home’s only occupant was a woman who declined Red Cross assistance. The cause of the fire is believed to be a cigarette.
