It was a wet night for baseball on Friday as severe weather forced the series opener between the Pirates and Milwaukee Brewers to be pushed back until tonight.
The Bucs and Brew Crew will play a split doubleheader beginning at 2:30 this afternoon. Bryse Wilson will start for Pittsburgh in game one, while last night’s starter, Mitch Keller, will start in game two.
You can hear the action beginning with pregame coverage at 2:05 p.m. on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160.
Pirates No. 2 prospect Quinn Priester made headlines last night after he was one of two pitchers to throw an Immaculate Inning for High-A Greensboro last night. Not only did Priester strike out the side on nine pitches – a feat classified as more rare than a no-hitter – but it was also the first time a Pirates pitcher at any level threw an Immaculate inning.
Priester fanned 10 against the Winston-Salem Dash, setting a new career-high for him.
Also with a notable performance for Greensboro last night was infielder Nick Gonzales, the Pirates No. 26 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, after he recorded his second four-hit game.
Gonzales collected three singles and a triple in the Grasshoppers’ 4-1 win against the Dash last night. After a slow start, the former first-round pick has a hitting line of .285/.363/.500 through 53 games with Greensboro this season.
