While the rain washed out the Pirates, the Curve and Seawolves were able to get their game in, however Altoona might be wishing that it had been postponed as they fell to Erie, 9-3, Friday night.
Infielder Josh Bissonette got the Curve on the board in the third inning with an RBI double to left. Cal Mitchell tied the game at two after driving in Jack Suwinski on a double to right center.
Erie, however, pushed across seven runs throughout the final innings while holding Altoona to just two runs in the fourth and eighth innings, giving them the win.
Starter Trey McGough allowed just three runs, two earned, over four innings of work. Brad Case allowed four earned runs in three innings of relief and Nathan Kirby allowed two runs to score in his only inning of work.
The loss pushes the Curve to 46-40, placing them fourth in the Northeast League Southwest Division. Both teams return to action tonight with Osvaldo Bido (2-4, 4.82 ERA) tabbed to start for the Curve.
First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
