State police have filed charges against a Homer City man for an incident on Saturday in Burrell Township. Troopers were dispatched at 8:47 PM Saturday to a location on Old William Penn Highway where they found 29-year-old Charles Ross behaving erratically. He admitted at that time that he was under the influence of methamphetamine. Ross refused to identify himself and attempted to be struck by a moving vehicle before police intervened. As he was taken into custody, he resisted arrest and tried to assault all law enforcement personnel. He was able to kick one trooper in the head. Ross was charged with public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and aggravated assault of law enforcement. He was placed in Indiana County Jail with bail set at $25,000.
A Homer City woman was arrested and charged with aggravated assault by motor vehicle for an incident over the weekend in Young Township. State Police say that at 9:50 PM on August 7th, the driver of a white GMC Sierra, later identified as 24-year-old Kristen Sulkosky of Homer City, drove through a yard when leaving a wedding reception and struck a 9-year-old child. Sulkosky allegedly fled the scene after that. The child was flown from the scene to Children’s Hospital. Sulkosky was found in the 100 block of Tearing Run Road in Homer City. Sulkosky also faces charges of DUI and accidents involving injury or death. She is free on 10% of her $15,000 cash bond. A preliminary hearing is set for August 17th.
State police announced that they are investigating more identity thefts with two of them following a recent trend. Police say that two incidents were reported on August 8th, the identities of two Indiana women, ages 52 and 28, were used to fraudulently file for unemployment compensation. In the third case, which was reported on August 2nd, a 29-year-old Indiana man reported his identity was used to apply for a credit card account.
INDIANA BOROUGH POLICE
Indiana Borough Police have charged an Indiana man with retail theft for an incident Tuesday afternoon. Police say that the theft happened at 3:54 PM on Tuesday. Investigation revealed that 27-year-old Aaron Cumberledge was seen carrying items out of the Sheetz at the corner of 4th and Philadelphia Streets without paying for them. A summary citation was filed with District Judge Guy Haberl’s office in Indiana.
An Indiana man faces a cruelty to animals charge for an incident last Thursday. Indiana Borough Police say an officer witnessed 21-year-old Magnus Skidmore of Indiana punching his dog in the 300 block of Philadelphia Street. A summary citation for cruelty to animals was later filed with District Judge Guy Haberl’s office. The Indiana County Humane Society was also notified.
