We are only a few short weeks away from the start of the high school football season, and coaches are working out their teams with “heat camps”, to get players acclimated to hot weather.
Yesterday, Mark Bertig visited with Homer Center coach Greg Page, who said he’s simply looking forward to a normal year after last year’s uncertainty over the pandemic.
Page said this week’s heat is something players will have to overcome, but they deal with the heat all the time elsewhere, so it shouldn’t be that much of a problem.
Homer Center has a pretty sizable contingent of players coming out this year, and the coach loves having that kind of depth.
The first high school football weekend is the last weekend of this month. Homer Center will open at home on August 27th against Heritage Conference newcomer Cambria Heights.
