A woman from Home Station will avoid serving time in jail for a guilty plea entered this morning in Indiana County Court.
Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco ordered 57-year-old Carmen Tyger to serve a year of probation for pleading guilty to a charge of misdemeanor disorderly conduct. Other charges of aggravated assault with attempt to cause serious bodily injury, simple assault, and resisting arrest were not prosecuted. The charges stemmed from an incident on February22nd of 2020 where Tyger was being treated for medical issues at her home and it was determined that she needed to go to the hospital. She became belligerent at that point and started to flail her arms to break free from the stretcher. She also allegedly kicked a state trooper as she was being taken into custody.
Along with the probation, she was also ordered to pay fines and court costs.
Also sentenced this morning in Indiana County Court was Bette Zimmers. The 36-year-old Slippery Rock native was ordered to serve four years of probation, including six months of house arrest for a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver and one year of probation for a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance. The sentences will run concurrently.
Michael Sopo of Grove City was also sentenced this morning for charges of criminal mischief and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was ordered to serve two years of probation for each count, and those sentences will run concurrently.
