The River Valley School Board is set to meet tonight and on the agenda will be a lot of items related to the start of the school year next month.
One of the items on the proposed agenda is the adoption of the district’s health and safety plan. According to the plan, students and staff will be in class five days a week, and masks would be optional among students and staffers, with the district following CDC guidelines to strongly recommend masks for those who are not vaccinated, and not discouraging parent- and family-driven mask wearing. The plan will be adjusted as situations change. Physical distancing will also be employed to the best of the district’s ability.
In other business, several painting contracts are expected to be approved, including proposals for painting the wrestling room, the weight room, the stadium and the painting of the media center. All four contracts look to go to the same person, according to the draft agenda. The board will also approve two signs. One of them will be a building sign, while the other will be a road sign. Both projects are expected to go to Signs of Excellence, Inc. The board will also look to approve purchasing new cheerleading uniforms and approve the five-year contract for the administrative assistant to Superintendent Philip Martel and confidential secretary.
The meeting starts at 7:00 tonight.
