Aerial black fly suppression is scheduled for today on the Conemaugh and Kiskiminetas rivers in Indiana and some of the surrounding counties.
Helicopter flights will be conducted over Indiana, Armstrong, Westmoreland, Cambria, Fayette and Lawrence counties. In an announcement on his Facebook page, State Representative Jim Struzzi said during the flights, Vectobac 12AS will be sprayed at predetermined locations along each stream. Vectobac 12AS looks like chocolate milk when sprayed on trees, but it is in fact a bacterial larvacide and not a chemical.
It is the only product used in Pennsylvania for black fly suppression.
