Members of the Utility Workers Local 580 once again made their voices heard during Tuesday night’s Indiana Borough Council meeting.
The union says that the employees it represented have been without a contract for 19 months. Utility Workers Local 580 President Denise Brudnock said that the grievances that had been filed against the borough have cost the borough thousands of dollars in legal fees. She said that if the borough council members would listen to all sides involved, things may be resolved.
Borough Manager C. Michael Foote did offer an update on the negotiations.
He added that both sides exchanged proposals during that meeting.
In other business, council approved authorizing Foote to engage the services of HRG/DRS to provide professional services to the Department of Community and Economic Development’s Strategic Management Plan Program, or STMP. Foote said the program will look at the borough operations to improve things borough-wide that would lead to action items funded by DCED. The initial process is expected to take a year.
