Marion Center Firefighters, Borough Council members and citizens teamed up for a cleanup effort at Linton Park.
The small one-acre park behind Marion Center Bank has fallen into a state of disrepair and disuse. Council member Chris Bloom said that the borough council was very close to closing the park.
Over the last week, firefighters met with Bloom to organize a community cleanup day for the park, and last night, volunteers showed up to help out. Cleanup efforts ranged from clearing brush to mowing the grass to pressure washing.
Bloom said that the volunteers who showed up last night were a big help.
The effort will continue as volunteers will be in the park to spread mulch that will be delivered today. Bloom is planning on holding a grand re-opening of Linton Park in the near future.
