An afternoon of stormy weather led to a busy day for Indiana County firefighters yesterday, and the action continued into the night.
After two calls to Rossiter and Brush Valley firefighters for trees down yesterday morning, things turned hectic in the afternoon starting at three o’clock, when Indiana firefighters were dispatched for utility lines down along South 6th Street. Two minutes later, Saltsburg and Tunnelton were summoned for lines on Elders Ridge Road in Conemaugh Township. Later in the hour, Armagh/East Wheatfield was sent to Donelson Road for a tree and lines on fire; and Indiana was dispatched again, for a physical rescue along Rustic Lodge Road.
Subsequent calls were made for lines down on Coleman Road in Conemaugh Township, Beech Road in Green Township, Nashville Road in Grant Township, and Clark Road in Montgomery Township. Those calls activated Saltsburg and Tunnelton, Commodore, Marion Center, and Glen Campbell firefighters, and Glen Campbell also was called for a tree on the roadway on Railroad Street.
Saltsburg and Tunnelton were dispatched for an accident last night on Noel Drive in Westmoreland County. Early this morning, Clymer firefighters were summoned for an accident on Franklin Street, and were soon joined by Commodore firefighters. No police reports are available yet on those accidents.
