One of the Steelers’ late-round picks in the NFL Draft is looking to prove to fans that looks don’t mean everything when it comes to playing certain positions in football.
The Steelers took punter Pressley Harvin out of Georgia Tech in the final round of the recent NFL Draft, and his mission is to prove to fans that he can be the next top punter in the organization while not fitting the typical punter look.
When fans hear the term “punter” they normally think of someone who grew up playing soccer. However, Harvin says he’s a punter because it’s what he wants to do in football.
He recently told reporters that people are astonished when they find out he’s a punter.
Harvin adds that he not only brings a strong leg to Pittsburgh, but a good arm as well. And he plans to utilize both assets.
Harvin also said that he doesn’t take people’s reactions to his position in a negative way. He says it’s unique and that drives him to get better every day.
Harvin will challenge last year’s punter, Jordan Berry, for the starting punter role during this year’s training camp, which is set to begin July 28.
