The Altoona Curve split a double-header with the Akron Rubber Ducks on Friday, winning the first game 6-2 and dropping the night-cap 4-1.
In game 1, starter Trey McGough had a rough start, but came through in the pinch and went five innings, giving up the two runs Akron scored, that included one earned run on six hits and one walk, striking out two. Daniel Amaral and Arden Pabst drove in a run in the first and second innings respectively. In the 6th, pinch runner Claudio Finol scored on a Jonah Davis RBI single. That was followed by a three-run blast to the Skyliner by Cannan Smith-Njigba to secure the 6-2 lead.
In game two, Mason Martin had a solo homer for the Curve in the second, but Akron would take control and the Curve bats went quiet. The Curve and Akron continue their series tonight, and the series is tied 2-2.
