Pennsylvania’s average gas price continues to go up while Indiana County’s average holds steady.
Triple-A reports that the statewide average is now $3.21 a gallon – up a penny from last week and three cents from last month. Last year when there were a lot of travel restrictions in effect due to COVID-19, gas prices were $2.43 on average. The national average has also gone up to $3.14 a gallon.
Gas demand levels were at an all-time high, with demand jumping from 9.17 billion barrels per day to 10.04 billion barrels per day. This is the highest demand since 1991 and took up only one day of the Independence Day driving period.
Another factor in the increase in the average gas prices was due to a 6.1 million barrel decrease in total gas stocks.
While the national and state averages have gone up, Indiana County’s average tied with Armstrong and Cambria Counties, holding steady at $3.25 a gallon. The lowest average in the region is Clearfield County at $3.21 a gallon, while Westmoreland County’s average is $3.23 a gallon. Jefferson County has the highest average in the region at $3.26 a gallon. Crawford County has the highest average in the state at $3.35 a gallon, while Northampton County has the lowest at $3.15 a gallon.
Gas prices in Indiana, Homer City, Blairsville and Clymer are also holding steady this morning at $3.25 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com
