It might not have been as exciting as the 11-1 pounding the Pirates put on the Braves on Monday night, but it was a win nonetheless last night…and in an unusual way.

Manager Derek Shelton says he knew he would get a good at-bat from Reynolds in the 9th.
Shelton says the Pirates’ Chad Kuhl was able to work his slider effectively because his fastball kept the Braves off stride.
The Bucs and Braves meet again today with the Pirates having a chance to sweep the series. Wil Crowe (1-5, 6.26 ERA) faces Atlanta’s Drew Smyly (6-3, 4.42 ERA). 12:10 airtime on WCCS.
The Pirates had to do some shuffling of the roster yesterday as they placed both outfielder Gregory Polanco and infielder Phillip Evans on the injured list. Polanco has a bilateral abductor strain. Evans was injured while sliding into third on Monday, taking a knee to the jaw. He broke that jaw last season in a collision with Polanco. Evans is on the concussion injured list.
Infielder Cole Tucker was recalled from Indianapolis and infielder Rodolfo Castro was recalled from Altoona. Both Tucker and Castro can also play in the outfield. Castro drew a walk in the ninth inning last night and scored the winning run.
