A Homer City man and his mother have been charged with drug-related crimes after Indiana County probation officers found them in possession of suspected marijuana and methamphetamine at their respective homes along Route 403 Highway South in Buffington Township. The man was also found in possession of a loaded 9 mm pistol stolen from a Buffington Township garage last year.
Steven Paul McCloskey, 24, was charged June 17 with felony counts of Receiving Stolen Property and Possession with Intent to Deliver as well as misdemeanor counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was arraigned June 22 before Magisterial District Judge Susanne Steffee and was remanded to Indiana County Jail in lieu of $10,000 monetary bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 6 at 9:15 a.m.
On April 20, 2021 at approximately 12:00 p.m., Indiana County probation officers conducting a check at McCloskey’s residence found him in possession of a loaded Springfield XD 9 mm pistol, a large amount of suspected marijuana, and suspected crystal methamphetamine. While on-scene, officers notified Troop A, Indiana and requested that a trooper respond to investigate. Upon obtaining consent to search the residence, the drugs and pistol were seized and the pistol was found to have been reported stolen October 2 from a garage along Ridge Road (reference CAD Number PA2020-1395462).
Also on April 20, Indiana County probation officers conducting a check of Theresa Marie McCloskey’s residence found her in possession of suspected marijuana and methamphetamine and summoned a trooper to the scene. After obtaining consent to search, the trooper seized the contraband and on June 15 charged McCloskey, 53, of Homer City, with misdemeanor counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 20 at 9:45 a.m.
