With June wrapping up yesterday, state leaders took the time to reflect on the first half of the year.
State Representative Jim Struzzi and Senator Joe Pittman joined Indiana in the Morning this week to give their thoughts on where Pennsylvania stands six months into the year, with their main focuses on the recently-passed state budget, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative and the redesign of the State System of Higher Education.
Struzzi focused on the budget, saying that it passed with bipartisan support. He said that while it was an “exhausting process”, he thinks that there will be a lot of benefits that come from the budget.
Another item Struzzi discussed was House Bill 1300, which deals with election results, which Governor Tom Wolf vetoed yesterday. He said that a lot of “common sense” changes were made to allow flexibility in the voting process, while fixing some issues some voters encountered from the 2020 election.
Senator Pittman discussed the passing of the state budget as well, but he also focused on the redesign of the State System of Higher Education. He said that IUP has done its job to right-size, but the other state universities have not.
Pittman also commented on summer preparations around the state, which you can hear all about by watching he and Struzzi’s interviews on our Renda Media YouTube channel.
