A jury in Indiana County Court on Wednesday found a Homer City man guilty of several counts related to the sexual assault of a minor.
District Attorney Robert Manzi announced that 44-year-old Jeremy Johnson was found guilty of five counts each of indecent assault and harassment and one count of corruption of a minor for incidents that date back to February of 2016. The victim, a friend of Johnson’s family who would babysit his three children, said that on the day of the assault, the victim’s and defendant’s families were spending time together mourning the loss of a family member. Later in the day, he touched the victim in unwanted fashions several times, despite her telling him to stop. She reported the case to police after he moved out of state.
Manzi said that the victim was brave to come forward and to stand up to Johnson, and he said he hopes the conviction will help the victim in the healing process.
Johnson is scheduled for sentencing in front of Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco on September 7th.
