The Pirates’ JT Brubaker was outstanding yesterday, but the Bucs’ bats couldn’t come through in the series finale with Cleveland.

Shelton says the Pirates were a victim of tough luck on the game-winning Cleveland hit.
The Pirates are off today and start a two-game set with the White Sox at PNC Park tomorrow night. The team put reliever Sam Howard on the 10-day injured list yesterday with tendinitis in his right knee. He’s coming off a poor outing on Friday night, when he gave up six Cleveland runs on four hits in two-thirds of an inning of the Pirates’ 11-10 win. Lefty reliever Austin Davis was recalled from Indianapolis to replace Howard.
An unusual play in the 9th inning ended Triple-A Indianapolis’ win over Memphis yesterday. Trailing 7-6, the Indians’ Christian Bethancourt drove in Anthony Alford with a single, with Wilmer Difo sliding in ahead of the tag at third base. Bethancourt stopped running halfway between first and second and the Memphis third baseman, assuming that time had been called, stared across the field at him. Meanwhile, Difo noticed that no one was covering home plate and knowing time had not been called, he dashed home with the walk-off winning run.
