Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry Acting Secretary Jennifer Berrier gave an update on the state’s new unemployment compensation system, which went online yesterday.
Statistics show that more than 123,000 individuals were able to file weekly claims through the new system yesterday and an additional 8,930 individuals filed new claims.
Berrier said that yesterday’s launch of the new system put Pennsylvania “in a good place” compared to a handful of other states. She said that while there were only a few minor technical issues at launch, they were only minor bugs that were resolved quickly.
Another part of the unemployment compensation system is set to launch today, and it will be a newly-created phone system. A link to Berrier’s full update can be found here.
