What promises to be a busy summer for the Blairsville-Saltsburg school board and administration kicks off tonight with a special board meeting to handle a number of personnel items, as the district makes the transition to become the River Valley School District.
The board will act on a number of items, including the resignation of newly-hired athletic director/student activities director Kelsey Ferguson and a motion to approve her replacement, Tiara Stossel.
Varsity coaching positions under consideration tonight include Jess Houser as the football coach; Mark DeMarines as boys basketball coach; Tiara Stossel as girls basketball coach; Jim Buckles as girls volleyball coach; Scott Stuchal as wrestling coach; Marissa Falcone, cheerleaders; Melissa Malanak, track & field; Frank Harsh, softball; Mark Palmer, baseball; Scott Stuchal, golf; and Kaitlynn Figurelli, cross country.
Assistant coaching staffs will also be named.
Christopher Lyons is set to be named band director, choral director, and drama director. Chad Detwiler is the candidate for band front director.
Richard Schillow will be considered for the position of Workforce Development HIUB Coordinator.
The school board will also name faculty department chairs and fill a number of other positions at the meeting tonight, which is scheduled for 6 PM.
