The Pittsburgh Pirates offense came alive for a season-high nine runs as they beat the Marlins 9-2 yesterday, but the Pirates also ran into some trouble with one of their pitchers.
After Ke’Bryan Hayes posted two runs for the Bucs on a two-run homer in the first, starter Mitch Keller left the game after the second inning with a “heat illness” according to Manager Derek Shelton. Shelton after the game said Keller got overheated and didn’t feel well. The bullpen stepped up with Duane Underwood picking up the win, Chasen Shreve holding the lead over one and a third innings, and Chris Stratton picking up the save.
Hayes ended the game with 3 RBI, while Gregory Polanco, Adam Frazier, Bryan Reynolds, and Jacob Stallings each picking up an RBI as well.
The Pirates and Marlins play this afternoon at 3:40 on WCCS.
