The Pirates had a three-run lead heading into bottom of the fourth inning last night in Kansas City when starter Wil Crowe ran into trouble. Greg Brown has the story.

Crowe says he’s trying hard to turn a corner as a starting pitcher.
In Bucco injury news, first baseman Colin Moran was 0-for-2 and infielder/outfielder Phillip Evans was 1-for-2 with a single as both began rehab assignments with Indianapolis. Shelton said neither will be activated for the upcoming seven-game homestand and they won’t be playing every game as they ease back into action. Max Kranick started that game for Indy, on the same day he was promoted from Altoona. He went five innings and did not factor in the decision, which was a win for Indy.
Starter Trevor Cahill threw about thirty pitches of live batting practice yesterday. He’s been out since May 22nd.
Shelton also shed some light yesterday on a possible reason Miguel Yajure has not been called up from Indy for spot starts, saying he is having some discomfort in his pitching elbow.
