An Apollo man who was arrested on Thursday for reports of domestic assault was arraigned on Friday.
25-year-old Austin Thomas Hopkins was remanded on $5,000 bail after Hopkins was involved in a physical altercation with his brother in front of a home in Saltsburg Borough. Hopkins’ brother said he suffered a minor injury during the altercation, and that Hopkins chased him with a knife.
When troopers arrived to the home, they found Hopkins in a house nearby with a 12-gauge Mossberg shotgun wrapped in a black hooded sweatshirt on the floor.
Hopkins was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, simple assault and terroristic threats.
His preliminary trial is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9 at 9:45 a.m.
