Department of Health Acting Secretary Allison Beam announced that masks may no longer be required by the end of June.
Beam said in a news conference that after reviewing vaccination data across the state, the Department of Health and the COVID-19 Vaccine Legislative Task Force determined that “the commonwealth’s mask order can be lifted on June 28 or when 70 percent of adults get their second does, whichever comes first.”
Beam said the lifting of the mask orders is just one point in what she called “the transition process” of the pandemic.
According to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard, more than 25,000 Indiana County residents are fully vaccinated while nearly 5,000 residents received their first dose. The Indiana Regional Medical Center will be setting up an on-site vaccination clinic at tomorrow’s Westylvania Jazz & Blues Festival for those who want to get vaccinated.
