State police have identified the suspect who fled a police pursuit and later crashed and ran away on foot yesterday afternoon in Center Township.
Police say 39-year-old Michael Daniel Goss of Arcadia is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police and seven summary traffic offenses, including driving while suspended and reckless driving.
A state trooper attempted to pull Goss over on Route 119 in Burrell Township at around 3:23 in the afternoon when he received information on a PennDOT inquiry that the vehicle owner’s license was suspended. The trooper then drove alongside the Ford Escape and confirmed visually that Goss was driving. Goss then pulled into the Kwik Fill gas station on in Center Township, drove around the pumps, and fled north. With the trooper in pursuit, Goss passed other driver son the highway shoulder and turned right onto Route 56. After reaching speeds of 90 miles per hour, the trooper terminated the pursuit for safety reasons, but moments later, was notified that Goss had crashed on Route 56 near Elizabeth Way and he had fled on foot, with his vehicle overturned and over an embankment.
With the assistance of State Police Aviation Patrol, police were later able to apprehend him. He was treated for minor injuries at IRMC and placed in the Indiana County Jail. He was arraigned this morning before District Judge Bob Bell and released on $10,000 bond.
