Those supporting the effort to keep the Saltsburg Middle-High School open picked up another seat on the school board in the elections on Tuesday.
Jessica Clawson, a district parent and outspoken supporter of the Saltsburg Middle-High School, received both Democrat and Republican nominations to represent Region II of the school board. She will represent those in Black Lick Township, Burrell Township Precinct 1 and Conemaugh Township Precinct 2.
Clawson said her goal will be to get the district to at least pause the reorganization process that will result in the Saltsburg Middle-High School’s closure.
In the other races in the election, current board president Rick Harper ran unopposed in Region I and picked up the nomination with only nominal write-in votes cast. In Region III, where people were asked to pick two candidates, Melanie Cribbs Pantalone and Nathan Baird were named the new representatives for the district, and will also represent the Saltsburg area.
