With conference championships wrapping up, the PIAA released its rankings and matchups for Class 1A and 2A baseball this afternoon.
CLASS 1A
Two Heritage Conference teams will face-off in Class 1A, with No. 1 seed Saltsburg set to take on No. 8 Penns Manor. (4) Moshannon Valley will face (5) Conemaugh Valley in game two; the winner of that game will face the winner of Saltsburg and Penns Manor.
In the lower portion of the bracket, (3) Juniata Valley will face (6) Saint Joseph; and (2) Bishop McCort will face (7) Blacklick Valley.
All games will take place on Thursday at 4 p.m., with the only exception being Bishop McCort and Blacklick Valley, which will take place Friday at 4 p.m.
District VI Class 1A semifinal games are slated for Thursday, May 27th at 4 p.m. No word on when the championship will occur has been released yet.
CLASS 2A
All three Heritage Conference teams will have the opportunity to make it to the semifinal matchups as (1) Portage takes on (8) Northern Cambria. The Heritage Conference Champion United Lions, who are seeded fourth, will face (5) Southern Huntington; (3) Bishop Guilfoyle will face (6) Mount Union; and (2) Marion Center takes on (7) Claysburg-Kimmel.
All games will happen on Thursday at 4 p.m., with the only exception being Bishop Guilfoyle and Mount Union, which will be played on Friday at 1 p.m.
District VI Class 2A semifinal games are slated for Tuesday, May 25th at 4 p.m. The championship is scheduled for Tuesday, June 1. It will be played at PNG Field in Altoona at 7:30 p.m.
