State police are advising citizens about a counterfeiting scam involving fake prescriptions.
Police say that this was reported in Saltsburg Borough on May 7th. Around 4:00 PM, police say that the suspect, who was not identified, tried to fill a prescription for a controlled substance using a fake prescription slip. The fake was spotted by the pharmacy staff and the prescription was not filled.
Local pharmacies are advised to be on the lookout for fraudulent prescriptions, and to verify any that are phoned in and positively identify anyone who is picking up a prescription for someone other than themselves.
