The Pirates took advantage of their off day today by adjusting their active roster.
The team announced on Twitter that they have claimed INF Ildemaro Vargas off waivers from the Chicago Cubs, and to make room on the 40-man roster, OF Troy Stokes Jr. was designated for assignment.
Vargas is 3-for-21 this season with the Cubs, driving in two runs and stealing one base.
The Bucs open a two-game set with the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow night.
