The Pirates dropped their third game in four tries since returning home to PNC Park yesterday. This time it was the San Francisco Giants who shut down the Bucs’ offense.

Will Craig, who grew up with Pirates pitcher Wil Crowe in Tennessee, was added to the roster because Philip Evans was placed on the injured list with a hamstring injury, and with Colin Moran already on the list with a groin injury and not eligible to return until next Wednesday, the Pirates needed a bat. Pitcher Sean Poppen was designated for assignment to make room on the roster for Craig.
Manager Derek Shelton said pitcher Chad Kuhl tested his shoulder yesterday with a two-inning simulated game and looked good.
TONIGHT: Game two of the series features the Pirates’ Tyler Anderson (3-3, 3.05 ERA) pitching against the Giants’ Kevin Gausman (3-0, 1.97 ERA). It will be a 6:10 airtime, 6:35 first pitch on WCCS.
