The Pennsylvania Department of Health announced yesterday that they are adjusting their mask guidelines to match those with the CDC, which means that for those fully vaccinated against Covid-19, they can go without a mask outside in crowds or in an uncrowded indoor situation.
Acting Health Department Secretary Allison Beam said the new mandates do come with exceptions. All vaccinated people are still asked to wear a mask when in a crowded indoor situation, like taking the bus or visiting a hospital. Those who are not vaccinated are still required to wear masks when away from home. Masks can still be required by local regulations and businesses as well.
Beam added that the recent announcement should act as an incentive for people to get the vaccine. Once 70 percent of Pennsylvaina’s adult population is fully vaccinated, the department said they would drop the mask order. All other mitigation measures put in place by the state are set to be dropped on Memorial Day.
