IUP softball second baseman Kaitlyn Beers has been named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Atlantic Region second team. It’s another postseason honor for Beers, who was previously named All-PSAC Western Division first team.
Beers broke IUP single-season program records in batting average and slugging percentage, while her 12 homers are the second most in program history, although she played in just 32 games. She’ll leave IUP as the program’s home run champion with 29.
TRACK & FIELD
The IUP track & field program won four of the five events as a small group of seniors competed in the President’s Athletic Conference Last Chance Meet yesterday at Westminster. Nickeela Austin won the women’s triple jump; Sam Lenze took the men’s 3,000 meter steeplechase; Justin Jones won the men’s 800 meters, and Jessica Jones won the women’s 800 meters.
