In the Curve’s first game of the road this season, Roansy Contreras tossed six no-hit innings in Altoona’s 5-1 win over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. In addition, Contreras tallied his second consecutive game with 11 strikeouts while allowing only two walks.
Jeffery Passantino earned a three-inning save after relieving Contreras in the seventh frame, earning six strikeouts in the process.
Oneil Cruz broke a scoreless tie with a two-run home run in the sixth – his first of the season. Canaan Smith-Njigba sealed the game in the ninth with a three-run home run. Smith-Njigba would finish the day with three hits.
The Curve and Rumble Ponies return to action today with Travis MacGregor tabbed to start for Altoona. MacGregor only went 2.1 innings in his last appearance, giving up three earned runs and earning the loss.
First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
