At the Indiana County Commissioners Meeting Wednesday morning, the commissioners got an update on the latest Covid-19 statistics.
Indiana County Emergency Management Director Tom Stutzman says the county still lags behind in the number of people fully vaccinated against Covid-19 compared to other counties.
He did mention that along with the public clinics from IRMC and other groups, and the pharmacies that have been offering vaccinations, private doctors are beginning to receive vaccines as well, so those who were not comfortable with getting a vaccine at a clinic or pharmacy can do so at their doctors, but they are to check with their doctors for vaccine availability.
In other business, the county approved an application for a municipal aid planning grant on behalf of the county’s solid waste authority. The $64,831 they are applying for would be used for updates and revisions to the county’s municipal waste management plan, which was last updated in 2012. The commissioners also approved awarding a Revolving Loan Fund-CARES act loan to Michael B. Shoes in the amount of $50,000.
Finally the Commissioners declared the month of May as Lyme Disease Awareness Month, this week as National Police Week, and the week of May 9th to the 15th as National Hospital Week and the week of May 6th to the 12thas National Nurses Week.
