Anderson, Difo secure win for Bucs:
Tyler Anderson notched his third win of the season after allowing two runs in eight innings in a 6-5 win on Sunday.
The 31-year-old southpaw walked just one hitter and struck out six, giving him another formidable outing on the season. Anderson now holds a 3-3 record with a 3.05 ERA and 1.04 WHIP on the season. Richard Rodriguez shut the door on the Cubs and picked up his sixth save after relieving Kyle Crick in the ninth inning.
Wilmer Difo sparked the Pirates’ offense by going 3-for-5 with a triple and three RBIs. Todd Frazier and Kevin Newman would also finish with two-hit performances.
The Pirates now sit at 14-19 on the season and will open a seven-game homestand tomorrow as they welcome the Cincinnati Reds. Airtime on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160 is 6:10 p.m.
Pirates make slew of roster moves:
Prior to Sunday’s series finale in Chicago, the Pirates announced that they made the following roster moves:
- 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes – moved from 10-day injured list to 60-day injured list (wrist).
- INF Colin Moran – placed on the 10-day injured list (groin).
- OF Troy Stokes Jr. and RHP Geoff Hartlieb – recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.
- RHP Michael Feliz – designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
- OF Ben Gamel – claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Indians. GM Ben Cherington expects Gamel to suit up for Monday night’s game.
