The State House Commerce Committee yesterday unanimously approved Representative Jim Struzzi’s bill to provide across-the-board relief for specific businesses impacted by the covid-19 pandemic.
The bill called the “Entertainment Venue Industry Recovery Program” provides small business grants for performing arts, spectator sports, amusement, gambling, and recreation industries. It is styled after the Hospitality Industry Recovery Program approved earlier this year. Applicants for grants under the hospitality industry program would not be eligible for a grant under the entertainment venue program.
Struzzi says the legislation provides a distribution vehicle for any future federal funding allocations to the state for entertainment venue relief.
The legislation, House Bill 878, now goes to the full House for a vote.
