Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert and coach Mike Tomlin held a joint news conference yesterday, with the NFL draft scheduled to open on Thursday night. Colbert talked about the depth of the draft, saying there is quality depth at most positions, the one notable exception being defensive line.
Colbert says they have pretty much decided on the Steelers’ draft board, and just have some detail work today and tomorrow.
Colbert says the Steelers have a list of top prospects they would have a shot at getting, and it’s just a matter of taking them off the draft board as teams ahead of them pick each one.
The Steelers have the 24th pick of the first round.
NFL NOTES:
Former Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert has retired after ten seasons. His last two seasons were spent with the Arizona Cardinals, but he never suited up for them. He missed the 2019 season after he tore his ACL in training camp and opted out of playing last year due to covid.
Former Upper Saint Clair and Penn State star Sean Lee has retired from the NFL after eleven seasons in Dallas.
