The United Lions baseball team improved to 7-2 Friday with a 16-11 win over Ferndale.
Zack Travis came on in relief of Travis Timko in the 3rd Inning after Ferndale had a 10-2 lead on the Lions. Travis pitched four innings, while striking out three, and allowing one hit to earn his first high school victory. United was down 10-3, before scoring seven in the top of the 6th to tie the game. United then scored six more runs in the top of 7th to win, 16-11.
For United, Bradley Felix finished with a two-run home run, three hits and four RBI. Joe Marino had three hits and four RBI as well for United. Hunter Cameron added three hits, and Wade Plowman had two hits for the Lions.
United heads into the weekend on a three-game winning streak and they will play Westmont Hilltop (1-3) in the Gene Schultz Tournament held at Point Stadium. The will also play Sunday in the tournament.

The Wolves scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the second to lead 5-0 and that was all Niko Buffone needed to secure the mound win. He pitched seven innings, striking out nine, walking none and allowing no earned runs. Bo Swartz and Trevor Smulik led the Wolves with two hits each.
Andrew Smarsh and Isaac Huey each had two hits for the Red Dragons.
