The Blairsville-Saltsburg School Board will hold a special meeting tonight to determine the fate of the Saltsburg Middle-High School building.
Tonight’s meeting will have the board consider closing the building as part of an effort to reconfigure the district. Students going to Saltsburg Middle-High School would have to go to the Blairsville side of the district to attend class. Many citizens on the Saltsburg side of the district are against the idea, saying the closure of the school would be devastating to the local economy, and they also say they are concerned with safety issues in busing students from Saltsburg to Blairsville.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 tonight. Those against the closure of the school are planning to hold a rally in front of Saltsburg Middle School tonight at 5:00 PM.
Tonight’s meeting will be held virtually and links to watch and participate in the meeting will be posted later today to the district’s website, www.b-ssd.org
