A Glen Campbell man accused of killing his father on New Year’s Day of 2020 will have a pre-trial hearing today in Indiana County Court.
Matthew Bartlebaugh, 27, will go before Indiana County President Judge Thomas Bianco today for his hearing for an omnibus pre-trial motion for relief in connected with the murder case. Bartlebaugh is charged with felony criminal homicide and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon along with misdemeanor reckless endangerment for the incident around 3:00 AM on January 1st of 2020. Police said that Matthew shot his 43-year-old father Jerald as he slept in his bed at a home on Graham and Morris Streets. Jerald’s girlfriend was also in bed at the time, but she was not hurt.
Bartlebaugh was taken into custody after a standoff with police that lasted several hours. Bartlebaugh surrendered to members of the Pennsylvania State Police and their Special Emergency Response Team after they lobbed flash-bang grenades into the home.
Authorities at the time said that Bartlebaugh suffered from mental illness for several years and they had been called out to the house on other occasions. His hearing starts at 9:00 this morning.
