The Steelers announced today that they have agreed to a three-year extension with head coach Mike Tomlin.
Tomlin took the reigns from Bill Cowher in 2007 following his retirement after Super Bowl XL. Since then, he’s collected a 145-78-1 record with 14 consecutive winning seasons, seven AFC North titles, nine playoff appearances and two Super Bowl appearances: 43 – which the Steelers won – and 45.
Team President Art Rooney II said in a news release that “[Tomlin] is one of the most successful head coaches in the National Football League, and we are confident in his leadership to continue to lead our team as we work to win another championship.”
Tomlin said he is extremely grateful for the extension and that he is enthusiastic about the upcoming season.
